Doktori ösztöndíj (Berlin)

A doctoral fellowship in Research Group D-1 "Space of Nature: The Exact Sciences of the Cosmos" of Excellence Cluster 264 Topoi for the 2014/15 winter semester (starting October 1, 2014) is now open to applicants. Receipt of the fellowship is connected with admission to the Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS) of the Berliner Antike-Kolleg and participation in the scholarship program "History of Ancient Science", which is based on a structured curriculum.

Applicants should have an exemplary university track record in Assyriology. The doctoral fellowship will include a stipend of 1350 euros per month to be awarded for two years, with an option to extend for a third year upon positive evaluation. A child allowance will be made available in accordance with DFG guidelines.

The recipient will pursue original research as a member of the TOPOI Research Group D-1, which is focused on the exact sciences between 700 BCE and 500 AD. The recipient should pursue an original research project on science or scholarship in Babylonia during the 1st Millennium BCE (astronomy, astrology, mathematics, medicine, etc.).

The project advisor will be Prof. Dr. Mathieu Ossendrijver (Humboldt University Berlin, Institute for Philosophy).
